Indiana Bankruptcy Attorney Admits Peer Recognition IS All It’s Cracked Up To Be

While my greatest professional pride has been the Indiana bankruptcy help I’ve been able to provide for tens of thousands of Indiana residents, I’ve got to admit recognition from one’s professional peers gives me a good feeling, too.  Over most of the 24 year period  I’ve been practicing as a bankruptcy lawyer in Indiana, I’ve been involved in teaching and lecturing, giving back to my chosen profession by sharing my knowledge and experience with others.

Until now, though (since I and the Anderson, Bloomington, Indianapolis, and Columbus bankruptcy lawyers who work in the four Zuckerberg bankruptcy law offices practice only in Indiana’s Southern District), my lectures have been geared towards Indiana professionals only.

Last week, though, I was honored to be asked to lecture at the annual spring convention of the largest organization for bankruptcy attorneys nationwide.

NACBA (the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys) will hold its annual convention and Capitol Hill Meeting in April 2011 in Washington, D.C. According to the online brochure, “Judges and nationally recognized speakers provide case law updates, practical tips on effective representation of clients, information on emerging trends nationwide, and in-depth discussions of topical issues.” (What an honor and privilege it is for me to be included as a speaker at this prestigious meeting!)

Introducing myself to readers when I began this series of Bankruptcy in Indiana articles (just one month shy of three years ago), I explained how, as a debt consolidation lawyer offering bankruptcy services in Indiana, I had gotten certified by the American Board of Certification. Back then, I pointed out that I was one of a very few Certified Consumer Bankruptcy Specialists in Indiana; today, I believe, the number is less than a dozen throughout the state. I’m proud that 2010 will be my eleventh consecutive year of qualifying for certification.

Then, two months ago, I shared with readers that I’d been given the privilege of speaking at an advanced seminar for Indiana lawyers sponsored by the Indiana Continuing Education Forum, called the Annual Masters’ Series Conference on Advanced Family Law. My audience included both Indiana bankruptcy attorneys and lawyers for divorce and family law who needed to know more about the new bankruptcy laws of Indiana.

At the national meeting of NACBA, I plan to discuss ten very complex cases that illustrate the importance of involving experienced legal specialists when clients are filing personal bankruptcy or small business bankruptcy.

I’m proud of the work I do day in and day out, helping to stop foreclosures, offering student loan debt help, payday loan debt help, and steering hundreds of clients through the process of filing individual bankruptcy in Indiana, and many others through the process of filing small business bankruptcy in Indiana.

I’m proud that, while doing all this, I’ve been able to read – newspapers, magazines, professional journals in bankruptcy, financial planning, estate planning, insurance, and employee benefits.  I’m proud that, for three years, I’ve been able to provide Indiana bankruptcy information through his series of articles.

I must admit, though – it feels good to have my accomplishments recognized by my NACBA peers on a national level!
